In a study of patients with schizophrenia, AstraZeneca reported that patients with the condition received a lower dose of the medication to treat symptoms. The treatment group received a 10-mg dose of sertraline and 20 mg of quetiapine.
The study, which was published today in theInternational Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial of patients with schizophrenia treated with sertraline, quetiapine, or placebo for one year.
The study was conducted at three hospitals in the Netherlands. All patients were diagnosed with schizophrenia.
